W76H SERIES WOOD PROPELLERS For aircraft which cruise in the 120 - 160 mph region and use a Lycoming O-360 series engine, Sensenich recommends the model W76H( ) series. This propeller series was designed for aerobatics, with good cruise performance and vertical penetration. While the installed weight is 2/3 of a similar fixed pitch metal propeller, this weight is concentrated at the hub, resulting in much lower crankshaft stresses and reduced control forces. Wood propellers also tend to run more smoothly if maintained and stored properly. Because the standard Lycoming flange of 6" diameter does not provide sufficient area for wood propeller driving torque over 160 HP, Sensenich strongly recommends using a propeller adapter (or extension) with at least a 7" diameter flange and crush plate. Propeller pitch is selected as appropriate to aircraft type, engine rating, and climb/cruise preference. A Uralite leading edge is cast in place on the blade, which provides superior protection without any aerodynamic penalties. Resaw construction is used, with 14 laminations providing the proper combination of strength and material stability for high performance tractor aircraft. All Sensenich propellers are manufactured under strict production certificate standards, with material certification and 48 point conformity inspection for each experimental category propeller. Clear polyurethane finish is standard, with a gloss gray option. The W76HM8 propeller is experimental category, and has the same bolt pattern drilling as the standard Lycoming flange but requires use of a 7" diameter mounting flange and crush plate. The adapter assembly includes: crush plate, propeller mounting bolts, adapter mounting bolts, and adapter with customer specified extension length. The 1.25" length adapter is a "solid" type, while adapter lengths 3" and longer are of the "spool" type. Custom adapter lengths are available.
